“The Smoothest Serenade”

This work is titled “The Smoothest Serenade.”

During the fall semester of 2024, a bunch of graphic design students and I were tasked to submit a musical poster along three mini-posters surrounding a old musical theme. I was going to choose a classic theme, but to my surprise I ended up with jazz.

Each assignment involved us drawing stylizations, organizing typography, and creating textures to prep us up for the final piece. It bummed me out knowing the faculty said we were not allowed to draw actual characters, just instruments.

One of the drawings I did featured a lady singing softly over a mic. The students loved the drawings I did, especially the lady one. The songs that come to mind are ones done by Julie London, such as I’m in the Mood for Love, or Cry Me A River.
