This website is home to the artist, Samuel Ibe, also known as Mr. Samster.
Growing up in Katy, TX, Samuel’s main passion for art became stirred by a number of animated films like Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and other franchises. He loved to draw yet he didn’t know what path to take. Through the support of his family and friends, he began to challenge himself to draw outside his comfort zone and create things he’d be proud of.
Presently, he is enrolled in the University of Houston studying for a major in graphic design. After graduating, he hopes to utilize his skills to become a freelance illustrator and animator, while working under a design firm specializing in illustrative design.
Graphic Design Work
Each semester at my college, many graphic students are given the opportunity to showcase their work for the design faculty. Only twelve students are selected each semester, totaling to 24 selected for a graphic design master program. We are only given two chances to submit our best work. I went up the first time in Spring 2024, but unfortunately I didn’t make it. For the second time, I took careful consideration redoing any old work and designing new ones. I never thought I would see myself as a graphic designer, nor did I think I can design anything professional at all for that matter lol. However, in Fall 2024, I acquired a lot of skills, materials, feedback, and beautiful friendships and connections. My first attempt falls in comparison to my second one, because the faculty saw my growth and commitment in the works I’ve made, and I did too. Happy to say, I made it in the program, and I am looking forward to the next step.
Early Sketchbook Work
Amidst my schooling days, I would tend to draw things that I was inspired by or create something stylized for myself or a random assignment. Pretty much, I love to draw anything cartoon-related (I still do).
